Tom Baker - the most famous incarnation of Dr. Who (a.k.a. "the one with the scarf and 'fro") - was hired by BT (the British phone company) to record over 1,500 words and phrases that BT subscribers could then use to have their text messages read aloud to them.

This is pretty amusing it itself, but what's extra amusing is that anyone with digital mixing equipment and a lot of free time can use the recordings to make Dr. Who is the next karaoke superstar!
